He revises U.S. history to promote himself.

As the world becomes more obviously secular, the theocrats have become more vicious as they see their grip slipping.

I like the Hitch, but he does spin alot of information if it helps the point he's trying to make. Which is fair enough if you wanna get paid to appear on networks. For example, he spoke about Mother Theresa and her last-minute athiestic turnabout in quite a touching way, but then will call her a douchbag here. He's also castigated people for offending religions in order to make a seperate point, although quite happily does it himself. I like Hitch but you can't take him literally too much.

This dude is amazing. His arguments are always rock solid.

I think that is even the same video I am talking about, that however does not mean that he dislikes her, it could be showing his distaste for what she's been put through. I'm not definitely saying that he doesn't dislike her, just that I don't think people should judge his view to be that automatically, just cause they see him as a contrarian.

I remember a video of Hitchens being asked about the time he actually met Lady Di and he,(rather callously),said she looked like an anorexic scarecrow.

From what I know, he doesn't have a problem with her, infact he sympathises, he just thought the whole big thing about her death was way over the top. On top of that it was something that ultimately was caused by the horrid incestual monarchy that is the Royal family. There is a vid on youtube about it if you can be bothered searching.

mother theresa was hailed as a saint, she took money from people under false pretences to put to use in her "houses of the dying"(which in themselves were supposed hospices for people to die in peace, although no drugs were supplied to ease their passing nor were their surroundings comfortable) associated and condoned poeple that brought terror to the countries they ruled, and used the money given to her to spread her nunneries around the world, i dont have space, watch "hells angel" on utube:)

What are Hitchens' views on Lady Di?? I don't understand why he was happy that she died? there may very well be a reason for it but I am ignorant of it. |
