I'm well aware of Jaco Pastorius, but comparing a tone acquired in a top notch tracking studio to a tone from a built in camera mic is an apples to oranges comparison, isn't it? We aren't really hearing what his bass sounds like in the room, we're hearing a mic's best shot at representing something it wasn't made for. Get what I mean?

I think the recording signal chain isn't meant to deliver a studio quality sound, and it's just more apparent in the bass as opposed to the guitar in this case.This is probably just a camera's integrated mic, right?

I think he's going for the Jaco sound though...rather than just failing to achieve a rounded tone.
