I guess so. It just seems like there are so many points where something could go wrong... I wonder how many times the average grower goes through all these steps before he produces... just seems like one tiny, unseen slip-up, and you're burned. Maybe I'm just not committed enough.

The hardest part is getting started for the first time. After that, it's more familiar and you have all the things you need.

would it be possible just to spray the mushrooms daily as opposed to using perlite?

the entire thing is made of mycellium. the water wont damage it. and you wont have to worry about it getting airborne contaminated as much at that point because it becomes immune to airborne bacteria, germs, etc.

I am brand new to this, about to get started. I don't know if I want to go pf tek or another method. Also it seems like rinsing those things in water would make them fall apart and wash away some mycellium, no? or does the whole cake become mycellium, like i said im new, advice for a new grower, anyone?

yes u have to drill holes in the bottom, you have to have holes in the perlite layer so air can circulate through the perlite to keep the humidity up

Is it necessary to drill holes on the bottom? I`m thinking of drilling holes just above the perlite level, this way I won`t have my floor wet from dripping water, consequently higher humidity will be maintained due to less water loss, air circulation will be just the same. 1st time growing, 7 out of 8 jars colonized after 8 weeks (1 not doing anything). Thanks for advice. Peace |
