Also...since deisel is "bad" for the enviroment, these trains will have to be electrified. The Great leader, Obama has said that if anyone wants to build a new coal power electric plant, that they will be taxed to the gills and he dosen't favor nuclear power plants either. Only thing left is hydroelectric. When was the last time California sanction to have one of those built? Been at least three decades if not more.

Here in California the Union Pacific and BNSF have already said that they are not going to allow their tracks to be used for the practice of futility. If this is going to happen, then new tracks will have to be laid. But where to lay the new tracks? Best answer will be along the freeways and highways, since they're already owned by the state. Thus creating more of a problem than solution.

.. well i dont really agree on that, maglevs are able to give back the energy to the gris when they break .. so energy used to power the the egine while produce energy when it has to power down from the speed .. What it make so expensive. Is the fact that a whole new infrastructure has to set up, while railroad is already existing. Thats the reason europe is more investing in the existing network rather finding investors that are able to build a new infrastructure....

It's really quite a coincidence that when Bush was elected, gas prices skyrocketed from $1.50 to $4.00. And now that Barack Obama's taking over, gas is going back down to $1.95 per gallon.Has anyone else in Southern CA noticed that you see a lot more Toyota Prius's now and a lot less Hummers?

Maglevs are cool but they are more expensive to build and use up a lot more energy.

I don't see why the US government thinks it's such a great idea to keep spending money on wars and foreign policy when America can barely take care of itself. This country is falling the fuck apart.

Yes, people love their cars, but nobody likes traffic and high gas prices. This is the solution. As for the "environmentalist police," they'll be all for this project because it reduces greenhouse gas emissions in California, and reduces the need to build more roads, which take up a lot more space.

I don't understand. How will high speed trains enable more deportation?
4stemcellresearch (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
I don't think California needs a high speed train. These idiots from the National transportation safety board, neglected to see the balance of California's checkbook. LOL, do we have money??Noo we are in debt and this was the most idiotic idea on the ballot.
