Always loved the song but never paid much attention to the video before. I just noticed that she is playing the main male roles in it.....even more interesting. Clever clip.

i have to kind of agree with you, not fully but enough to say your right. I think there are much better bands of this genre with more intelligent and meaningful lyrics. you may have heard of them but if not i recommend.massive attacktricky eric b and rakimall top quality stuff :) peace x

I think it's about how the right man can make a woman feel, sensual, strong, delicate and real. In touch with the part of themselves they didn't know existed.

Also, don't get me wrong. I love finding new experimental music. I enjoy the sound I'm just hoping someone can render some meaning from the music for me. I look foward to replies.

I'm going to be honest and say I've only heard about 5 Portishead songs, but what I've heard does not encourage me. I find the songs woefully indistinguishable. Their use of orchestral musicians seems a waste of talent for something so basely simple. I've listened carefully to the lyrics but they all seem vague and pseudo-intellectual. Most of all, the "enlightened" persona displayed by Beth seems empty and self-absorbed.
