I've pretty much been natural for most of my life. When I was in the 5th grade I BEGGED my mother for a "just for me" perm & my hair suffered from alot of damage. Haven't had one since. I'd definitely say grow the hair out until you get to a new growth length where you are comfortable to cut the permed ends. Braids may help in the meantime.

It can take anywhere from an hour to 2 hours. Depends on the size that I choose, as well as my distractions (phone, food, tv, net, etc). In most cases i'm distracted tho lol

If you have at least an inch & a half of hair you should be capable of achieving twists. Some can even do it with just an inch. Longer length will only play a role in determining the different style variations you may want to do with the twists.

lol, I totally understand. Hair can be alot of work sometimes. Good luck towards your natural journey though. I high recommend it! :-)

My timing on my twists often fluctuates depending on my distractions (food, phone, tv, comp, etc lol). But i'd say it probably took me a little over an hour. Oh, and my hair was wet when I twisted it. |
