PANAYIOTIS PETER LEVIS: Methimon O Theos (God Is With Us)

This is a Greek Orthodox Byzantine Psaltis Hymn solo sung by Panayiotis Peter Levis in 2004 with "The Arcadian Chorale" which is based in Matawan, New Jersey. There is a 70 member chorale singing behind the soloist.MUSIC BIOGRAPHYPanayiotis Peter Levis has been singing in Byzantine style Greek Orthodox Church choirs and playing the piano/keyboards since the early age of 7. In the 1980s Peter toured various venues in the tri-state area as a child pianist and boy soprano covering many major classical composers of piano works. During his late teen years to early 20s, Mr. Levis toured the East Coast of the United States with neo-classical rock band "Restless Spirit" as front man, vocalist, keyboardist, songwriter, and producer. He has recorded several CDs and demos over the years, the most recent being the neo-classical Christian rock opera "PANAYIOTIS - TURN TO THE LORD," in which Levis composes and performs all of the music, voices and harmonies. He has received basic classical training for tenor voice from Janet Pranschke, vocal coaching from Ken Newbern, and operatic training from famed 1950s tenor Giovanni Consiglio. In 2006, Peter performed in the humorous staged tenor role of Kaspar in the opera "Amahl and the Night Visitors." He also sings operatic tenor arias whenever possible and in various public places. His favorites being "Di Quella Pira" (Il Trovatore,) "Nessun Dorma" (Turandot,) "Che Gelida Manina" (La Boheme,) "Vesti La Giubba" (Pagliacci,) "Pourquoi me Reveiller?" (Werther) and "Una Furtiva Lagrima" by Donizetti (L'elisir d'amore.) Presently Peter sings as tenor and soloist in the The Arcadian Chorale, The Richmond Choral Society, The Metropolitan Greek Chorale, and works as a college professor of History and Sociology at The College of Staten Island (CUNY.)
