I do not contradict myself. Most songs in the movie Farinelli are made by computer. They mixed a man's countertenor with Eva Malas, a soprano's voice. But this song Lascia ch'io pianga is sung by Malas only. Why? probably because Haendel had wriitten it for a soprano originally. t sounds better for this song and it is only for the story's sake in the movie they pretend that it is sung by a castrato.Haendel used four castrato's for the opera, but not for this song! So,no contradiction.Read better

Reading is difficult. In the movie the voice of Eva Males is for most songs mixed with a man's voice since it is about a castrato, but for this particular song ( Lascia ch'io Pianga) it is sung by Males only. Why?Probably because Haendel had written this special song not for a castrato, but for a soprano and maybe mixed it didn't sound right. In the movie they let it sing by a castrato, but that is only for the movies( and the story's) sake.

Documents of Castrati during the Baroque Era reported that they could sing bass, tenor, and soprano ranges with ease. Farinelli was said to be able to sing 3octaves + a sixth above it but whether he could I dont know :) Lack of testosterone cause the voice box to increase in size since the growth hormone is still present and active which may have attributed to their impressive singing capabilities.

Lambiran, you contradicted yourself.. you said this particular song is sung by Eva Males only, then later said they mixed her voice with some man's voice. Make up your mind... though by reading the credits of the film i know that it was her singing in combination of a male singer as well.

lambiran is right, para sacar esa vos usaron dos voces distintas, de una soprano y de un contratenor e hicieron arreglos con una computadora, pero el tema es hermozo y no cabe duda que Farinelli fue uno de los mejores contratenores del mundo.

Your limbs get a bit longer, your voice gets higher, there is little testosterone production and all in all that leads to LESS complications. The lack of testosterone is almost a shield against REAL complications. We need our Castratos back. We need music back.

nope: this particular song is sung by Eva Males only, some other songs are made by computer. They mixed her voicr with some man's.

I understood this movie so much that I realized how powerful music really is. Be careful what you listen to
