The Best Zerbinetta is definitely Gruberova, Dessay says that, Karl Boehm said that, and you just need to open your ears, and heart, to hear it. It is so much more musically sung and perfectly given. Here, with Damrau, whom I liked in 'Glitter and be gay', the voice is not nice at all, the different registers much too hearable and too unprecise towards the score. She's really implied when she sings but that does not do everything. Some may not prefer Dessay, but, at least, the notes are there

LaretoI feel the same about her..it is a great instrument YES, but it is not organic, it is so perfect in its production, but it lacks a human quality to it..Dessay´s vocie has an instantly recognizable timbre which appeals to me.
