Perhaps it's a little subtle for you. Sahl all but invented the next generation--woody allen, george carlin, bill cosby (to some extent) and THEY invented everyone to follow--from Richard Pryor to Bill Maher to Conan O'Brien. Sahl's stuff is just over your head. I'll find a website specializing in doo-doo jokes and post it for you to chuckle over as you drink Budweiser and cheer on your local sports team. you posted that on a Lenny Bruce videocopy and past; word for word.i guess when there's nothing better at the time you watch videos of original comedians and post the same comment over and over til you get a rise out of someone who appreciates past sentiments. just seems like a good idea i guess.

I guess when there's nothing better at the time this just seems funny. I couldn't imagine comparing the older comedians to today's comedians. imo comedy evolves and this type of comedy is just cliche and boring. I guess people hold on to the idea that you have to idolize the pioneers.

Damn straight Mort Sahl is one of the greatest comedians in the world. In his heyday, Mort was not afraid to take potshots at whoever was in charge. Schmucks like Bill Maher and Al Franken could learn a thing or two from the master.
