In the spirit of refocusing on the music and its emotional impact, I revisit my own: This grand music is not sad; it is an antidote to sadness. It is a repudiation of despair and resignation. From its very beginning, it is sublimely peaceful, reassuring, hope instilling, fear destroying, and love encompassing. It heals and unites. Its gentle power affirms that not even a life of hardship and suffering can defeat the human spirit.Jeff Mincey

Good god, can we just listen to Edward Elgar and stop arguing about the goddamned British Empire?

Alexander the Great was a shirt lifter! And a ruthless bastard. So what. I'd rather spend a day with him than a lifetime with Janet Street fucking Porter!

AzzioBreezonator, my brief comment was hardly intended to be a full analysis of the British culture and its historical impact on the world -- please. I was simply pointing out that in addition to all the positive influence of British culture, (and this includes its music and art), there are negative influences as well, (such as in the examples I offer here).Jeff Mincey

you dont really have enough knowledge on the UK if your only mentioning the bad points of my(my as in everyone else who lives in it) country. But to be honest, Britain sucks pretty bad. there a few decent people in this country. anyway, your opinion is to biased.
