Far removed from college by the time this was recorded. They had been working "professionally" for some time. Fred

I finally find back your response now which is appearing only right now. According to the additional information you gave, this is indeed the same person!

I was referring to the drummer Skinny Ennis whom you list as a member of this orchestra. I researched a little-his real name was Skinnay Ennis and he was born in North Carolina 1909, so he's the same who went on to acheive fame as an orchestra leader and in film. He appeared in feature films Sleepytime Gal and Swing it Soldier of WWII vintage and made Dept of Defense shorts for the soldiers of WWII with Bob Hope, Betty Hutton, Lana Turner, Judy Garland etc College kid did well for himself.

So glad you like this one; I was very agreeably surprised too when I first heard it.

Aren't they great! Several musicians were named Ennis, I don't exactly whom you are referring to. It's very well possible.

It was a big surprise to me too when I discovered how good they actually were!

Great bunch of college kids-really no difference in their sound and that of the numerous "professionals" of the day. Was this the same Ennis who went on to acheive some success in the 30s? |
