Simon's voice is okay, but why is he doing those stupid arm movements??? He is making a mockery of his own song. It looks to me like it is his own little protest - HEY! I AM THE GENIUS... why let Garfunkel be remembered for singing my songs. And why not, we all have a dummy spit moments. In closing - Garfunkel should sing this song and Simon can sing all the others and be remembered as my favorite singer / songwriter. Yes that's right. He is the best. He just should leave this classic to Art.

Saw them at their only ever Vancouver show. It was festival seating at BC Place and beer was being sold on the floor. Prior to the concert people had to stay a certain distance from the stage. At a certain point just before the show began the security people politely told us we could now approach the stage. There was no rushing or pushing, everyone calmly moved toward the stage and eventually the concert began. I was right at the front of the stage, fantastic show. 45,000? in attendance.

What a strange performance by Paul Simon. He sounds kind of demented. He's trying too hard to stylize it. He's not in the same league as Garfunkle as a singer, so it seems like he's overcompensating with weird phrasing and vocal tics. But it's so beautifully written all you have to do is sing it. |
