Removed soundtrack. This is a landing at the new Hong Kong airport. Yes, it's a bit of a firm landing ;)

My guess is it was an endorsement training flight, which is why only idle reverse thrust was used (only the training crew members on board). Also perhaps explains why ONLY the IP single-handedly calls and responds to the Landing Checklist.Yes B737NG, it does sound like "Plus 100".PIREP.

did that GPWS say "Plus 100"??? WTF

But wait... I heard the Captain announce "And just a reminder, as well as a full stop landing it will be with idle reverse"FO: "Understood"Could potentially mean that there was purposely no flare due to a short runway? Although that doesn't really make sense unless they were assigned a particularly short runway? Anyone have any thoughts? The lack of flare I guess could've been intentional?

Love the fact that the landing checklist is clearly audible, despite the fact they bring it in completely manually (which can make for a bumpy ride as a passenger, depending on the aircraft though, I'm sure with a good pilot the 777 is smooth) and don't really flare at all. Ops would not be happy...

slovely08, He did not flare, the 777 travels down the ILS Glide Path with around 3-5 degrees nose pitch up so the main landing gear would touch the runway first anyway. You need to raise the nose slightly to cheack the rate of descent which is around 750-800 ft per minute to around 400ft per minute. Other wise you will get a Hard landing like he did. He was training though you can here the LTC/TRE coaching him all the way down.

I am a real pilot actually, thats why I picked up on these points, and I was not whining just passing a comment. So who looks silly now KDAK?
KDAK (August 31, 2008 at 4:38 pm)
Whos the real pilot here you or him? I would say him now stop whining

He did flare, you hear the main gear touch down first then you hear the nose touch down. He may not have flared enough but he did flare.
