Dangerous? When talking about skilled capoeiristas, they do flips and spins and are good at their moves. But the more flashy, the less effective. Who would start dancing in a real situation.

Of course, but this isn't the most skilled display, trust me. You'll find that a true Capoeira martial artist (the one's that take martial arts seriously) are extremely dangerous.

Capoeira used for fighting will be very different from what you see in the roda. All the low ground movements, low esquivas, aerial maneuvers and high kicks are meant for one purpose: conditioning your speed and agility. A capoeirista using the style for fighting will not duck under a kick. They will catch it and slam them, or use a banda. Also capoeira makes extensive use of elbows and headbutts, especially at higher levels. Many masters are familiar with BJJ as well.

Mysty, you dont understand do you? in no way shapeor form do capoeiristas use the "dance" in the fightwhat we do use is what we gain from it. and ourability too dodge..do you really think we ginga?.no we use our kicks, knees, elbows, feints..flexibility..if i ever seen someone ginga in a fight i'd laughand say there obviously inexperienced and have no ideaon why the ginga was used.. |
