That is the most idiotic statement I've ever heard. How many major talents should I mention who weren't traditionally beautiful, but their talent was gorgeous. Should we start with Barbra Streisand, Ella Fitzgerald or Ethel Waters, or if you prefer dramas, how about Julie Harris or Colleen Dewhurst or Judith Anderson. Wanna take a crack at the guys? Talk about ugly, your bigotted remark is sexist, dismissive and flies in the face of hundreds of years of theatre history.

I could have written this. Front row...was it the Shubert??? Totally floored! Never felt such emotion and energy. I remember an interview she gave after she had been fired from the show on the road and was then hired back......"They can replace me, and maybe I deserved it, but nobody can sing that song like I can.....That's my song"

Dreamgirls was at the imperial. Did it move during the run? or did you just get your theaters confused?

Ooh ms or mr. stirnthepot you have got to be joking me. do you even know real talent. if todays stars got to show there ass to get a hit then that aint talent baby. aretha franklin may be big and may even be ugly but i bet you cant hold a candle to her in a lifetime or two and i know you and a lot of these so called stars are no match for jennifer holiday. Patti Labelle is 64 and still singing as great as ever, whats your excuse.they are legends, who will remember you when you are gone?

brought to tears every single time i hear this song. always always be a classic powerhouse song by one of the most powerful soulful voices around. i wish ms holliday would come out with some new music.. would blow these young chicks today out the studio literally.

I'll never forget having the most amazing front row center seat at the Shubert Theater and how I completely fell into a blubbering idiot through this performance. I didn't want the houselights to come on for intermission because I was such a mess...then I discovered the whole row was passing around a box of kleenex. Here's to Ms. Holiday; still the most riveting live performance I've ever witnessed. |
