It is a very controlled fishery just like the one in Sitka, Only a small percentage are allowed to be caught. There are trillions and trillions of herring in the ocean. Same with salmon in Alaska, it is a very controled fishery and is in no danger of being overfished.

Since humans ARE animals, we aren't superior. Besides, what about out reckless, selfish, shortsighted behavior says that we are anything near "superior?" More like inferior, if you ask me. As far as evolution goes, we are definitely the new kids on the block, but we have a lot to learn about responsibility.

yeh exactly, which is why we need to stop all this mass trawling, right? I recently read that on average throughout earths history, 1 species has gone extinct every 4 years, since the rise of modern man, that figure has increased by as much as 120,000 times (probably a shock figure but still).

Humans are not above, but we are absolutly Dominant. aka in control. We are not the most important species, but we are in control. We are probbaly the only species that could dramatically change or destroy most life on the earth, by choice. |
