on snow, ice or wet leaves, gravel, holes in asphalt it does not reduce breaking distance - the wheels keep rollin as they can get no traction at all - see the Golf V test - on ice 255 meters w/o ABS and 404 meters with ABS... from 80 kmh (50 mph) 53m on snow/64m with ABS...

Because in the old Top Gear before Jeremy Clarkson left Tiff Needel was a presenter on Top Gear. Then Jeremy Clarkson left and the show ended. Then Jeremy decided to revive Top Gear and Tiff formed Fifth Gear.
