Hey Thank You for a great video! I am an atheist but I learned quite a bit from it.

The only inerrant "Word of God" that I'm aware of were the originals called the "autographs" of the various authors directing their scribes. The copies (15,000 OT/5,500 NT) are said to be generally in agreement-depending on the skill of the scribes-and useful for "faith and practice". The Canon filtered thousands of religious texts, tossing out the Apocrapha, pseudo-authors. A closed cannon seals the testimony, refuting "modern revelations" like the Quran, Book of Mormon, or Dianetics.

Okay, I retract what I said about no errors about the life of Jesus-obviously people've modified the text. I mean errors as to His being the savior. And I wouldn't say the NT authors are unreliable, rather, that they are human, and can't be expected to write 100% perfect words (plus, the people who maintained the texts over the years are also human).

The problem with your logic is that you state the NT has "other errors" but not in regards to the life of Jesus. You're picking and choosing the parts you want to believe. That opens up the possibility that all NT authors are unreliable. IMO Paul was inspired and does not contradict Jesus. He teaches the resurrected Christ unlike the gospels which teach the earthly Jesus.

I have read the book, thank you. And I never said the error of the NT was saying Christ is the Savior-you did. There are other errors, though, not really related to the life of Jesus. Do you really think it waters down the NT if you ignore the parts that don't make logical sense? Plus, history shows the idea of an inerrant Scripture is relatively new.

Way to water down the NT. Please stop trying to defend Christ by denying the inerrancy of the NT message which claims that He is the saviour. No wonder Brett Keane devours Christians everyday. Read the book.

It will be interesting to see where your debate with Brett Keane actually goes. You seem to know plenty of religious trivia but is it enough to actually support Christianity from one of its most aggressive critics. Guys like Augustine, Luther and Aquinas wrote some big books and I can't wait to see how you plan on using them. |
