Copenhagen municipality has 0.5 million and there are 1.5 in the metropolitan Copenhagen area(Hovedstads regionen).

Copenhagen's bike culture developed despite the weather. People there put on ponchos when the weather kicks up, which is often. Also, the "standard" Copenhagen bike has a paperboy-style foot brake in addition to a front-wheel caliper brake, in order to cope with wet/slushy roads.

Copenhagen is mild through all the four seasons. Summers bring high temperatures averaging around 68°F (20°C) and lows of around 53°F (12°C), while in mid-winter temperatures hover just above or below zero. However, average daily temperature in January is 32°F (0°C) and July 62°F (16.5°C). Rainfall is moderate too, but spread throughout the year, so showers are possible in any season. Snowfall is light.
