I was just playing Exmagma3 last night by chance, what an unsung bunch of genius players, they were as good as it gets and totally unique, if Hendrix and Miles had played together, it would have been something like them for sure. And Fred was utter magic, I treasure the LP's I hve with him on them.

Thanx for your comment - Fred was a great musician and warmhearted character. He left us much too early (in 1995)...

I'll be happy when ECM finally starts releasing those early recordings by the likes of Dauner, Weber, Garbarek, Rypdal, et al on CD. So much of the most amazing music in the history of Planet Earth was performed and recorded during the years 1965-75.

German television showed a lot of German stuff from the late 60s and 70s last year. I have it all on tape, but alas not able to transfer it to the computer. |
