The only significant difference is ther are about 7,500 Royal Marines and about 195,000 US Marines. Im joining the Royal Marines in 8 months time and if i pass it will be a privilege to serve with these lads and call them brothers.

I disagree, the Royal Marine Commandos is the best military branch yo can ever join. Its the longest and hardest infantry training in the western world and in NATO, the basic training is 32 weeks long. The USMC can also trace its heritage to the Royal Marines and the USMCs badge is loosely modeled from the Royal Marines.
