I think the R32 is slightly faster than the GTI. That heavier engine and all wheel drive put on the pounds and mostly offset the power gain. You will get a much nicer exhaust note with the R32 though. I personally prefer the R32, but that's just me.

Got an 07 R32 a few months back.Can't praise it enough.Every morning/evening getting in and hearing that soundtrack is all you need. I've forgotten about the price of fuel when I fill up.It all in that noise! youtube vid doesn't do it justice. Great car
