Yeah. im glad someone else out there knows what their talking about. How can anyone mistake a Tegethoff class battleship for Blucher. Plus he thought Blucher was a battleship not an Armoured cruiser. What a tool! Dont these idiots read books. I also hate it when documentaries show a clip of a ship and get the name of it totally wrong. These are the people who should now! Cheers mate for the message.

Correct, 100% agree! When the Germans began to construct the heavy cruiser Prinz Eugen, they intended to name her Admiral Tegethoff, but changed the name in Prinz Eugen due to the fact that Tegethoff was the victor of the battle of Lissa, sinking the Re´dItalia. Hitler was concerned about the feelings of Mussolini.

Why do people talk shit about things they now nothing about. Even a novice can see that this in not the german CRUISER Blucher, but is the Austro-Hungarian Battleship Szent Istvan, sistership to Teggethoff, Prinz Eugen and Viribus Unitis. Prinz Eugen is not to be confused with the German Heavy crusier of ww2 era!

The Blucher that the Norwegians sank was a Heavy Cruiser, one of the Prinz Eugen class, named in honour of the cruiser of the same name in ww1

italian navy is still celebrating his anniversary every 10th of June in memory of the eroic attack to the austrian battleships with the anti submarine fastboats. the anchors of the austrian battleships are still beside the main gate of the navy department in Rome as war prize.

This is "Szent István", not the Blücher. "Szent István" was the biggest battleship ever built in Austro-Hungary in the WW1. (Szent István was the first king of Hungary(997-1038))

SMS BLUCHER was not a battleship... she was reply to what they believed was New British Armoured Cruiser Invicible supposedly armed with 9 inch guns.. their counter was Blucher with their better 8" ....unfortunately the Invincible was a Battlecruiser with 12 inch guns and faster... interesting side note in "Steel Castles" by Massey tells of rescued german Seaman from Blucher being picked up by his former Neighbor.. He had to return home to be drafted and had lived in the UK...

The triple turrets (30.5 cm) would indeed belong to an Austrian battleship of the Teggethoff class; Blucher's turrets had two guns each (21 cm), and also wing turrets.
