Yeah most "modern day" types don't like its "God" connotation or at least the story behind it that it was allegedly God she was singing to and writing about. I guess the only acceptance of artists sharing their experiences with us only qualifies nowadays when Madonna dedicated Like a Virgin to The Pope or compares a war hero to Hitler.

it's a shame that this is deservedly one of the biggest selling songs of ALL TIME!! and yet we hardly hear it on the radio or even see it as a reference to stapled peaks of pop culture, which, for those of us who remember, even I as a 4 or 5 year old, IT WAS!!

The song is freaking gay. My mother made me watch this video when I was 8. I am still upset about it
