Bernanke is telling Ron Paul that his hands are tied in that the Federal Reserve Act dictates that he has to look at pricing stability as the Fed's measure of competence. Ron Paul is arguing for monetary stability. Bernanke is telling him that if he wants to change the economics, it's up to Congress, not the Fed. He's right. Problem is, most in Congress don't understand what they are talking about.

Ron Paul is a good and smart man, but this is a convoluted statement with some non-sequetior arguments, and bernake disarms him with grace.

The Federal Reserve is a private corporation. Also it is a monopoly because if I made my own corporation to make money, the Federal Reserve is too dominant for any competition. Another thing is that if I had started my own corporation for printing out my own dollars then i will be charged with counterfeiting. But I am allowed to make my own coffee if I created my own coffee business. See the loop hole in all of this?

"Gentlemen, I have had men watching you for a long time and I am convinced that you have used the funds of the bank to speculate in the breadstuffs of the country. When you won, you divided the profits amongst you, and when you lost, you charged it to the bank...You are a den of vipers and thieves. I intend to rout you out, and by the grace of the Eternal God, will rout you out."- Andrew Jackson

Finally, someone with some sense. It's funny how uneducated people are drawn blindingly to Ron Paul.

I'd pay good money to see Paul and Bernanke duke it out sans Bernanke being constrained as the Fed Chairman. |
