This was 21 years ago. With her mentor Von Karajan in front of her she wouldn't dare play around with the score as she does now a days. He would say" 8 note down bow legato! Not seven and one note up bow!" "This is Beethoven not jazz!". This 21 year old Sophie is the one I love.

Here she plays her Stradivari named EMILIANI, she also posesses the Stradivari LORD DUNN-RAVEN...lucky woman....

This record is from 1985, Anne-Sophie Mutter was born the 29th June 1963 in Rheinfelden in Baden-Württemberg, so she was 22 when she recorded this with Karajan. I copied the main melody in D-major on my phone...

It's funny... so much of the focus is on karajan. I don't think this is a 'violin' concerto in the traditional sense.

I believe the video is from 1984--that would make Mutter 21 at the time.
TK2008BEST (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
This is the best piece of all but very hard to execute it in the right way.

I would say at the beginning of the 80's.

The best. The best orchestra and the best (and most beautiful) woman to perform my favorite passage. This belongs to the love of my life. Ave!

No wonder Karajan invited her to play with him. |
