Juan Felipe Herrera traveled as a child with his parents through many small farming towns and cities in California, until finally settling in San Diego. He has taught poetry from kindergarten to the university level and is the author of numerous poetry and children's books, including Calling The Doves, which won the Ezra Jack Keats Award, and Crashboomlove, which was prized with the Americas Award. He also wrote Upside Down Boy, which was adapted into a musical in New York City, and Laughing Out Loud, I Fly, winner of a Pura Belpré honor award. mexicans are total trash. this trash has been in california for 160 years and all they still do is mop floors, wash dishes, and park cars.mexican = "human" trash. why don't these "people" get some self-respect and dignity and go back and fix meHico instead of coming here and leeching off Americans.

Ahorale! I lived in San Diego, soy gringo pero hablo espanol, I agree with this guy, this poetry should be translated..I know exactly where Logan Heights is...puro barrio ese.

Tlazokamali juan felipe you're a natural and a pro-poet from way back, before barcodes and book store chains. It's wonderful how you shared your corner library de chapbooks that most people won't ever see. Que viva floricanos, cantos al pueblo, and nuestro carnal Coahiltecan tejano poet raulrsalinas!Mitlan has welcomed many from the first onda, will the younger poetas known them?
