how much does it cost??

Allows for a more shallow depth of field (DOF) by using 35mm still photography and film camera lenses.

gives your video more of a film look...With the correct lighting..

i'm in the exact same boat as you. HV20 looks awesome, doesn't it? :)
jewrabs (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
im new to film. gonna get and hv20. cuz i wanna get into it a lot more...so what exactly does a 35mm adapter do??
schizophrenik8 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
what do you mean with a 5 DOF? I agree with the dark side of the 35mm adapters. They are too dark. Too blurry...too soft. Mayeb we should wait for better adapters to arrive in the future.

I agree. I just bought a jvc gy100hd and I'm still on the fence about these DOF adapters. The letus extreme seems to get the best reviews. And the area of focus has ALOT to do with the 35mm lens you use, plus the amount of light you're working with. Check my vids for my film

Yea but the tiny dof is what ppl are looking for when they buy the adapters.... I side with you on the vignetting, its ok for skate videos and stuff but no one wants to see that in the movie if its unintended
leproducer2 (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
The letus35 has no dark edge vignetting, once ajusted properly.

I'm noticing MOST of the sample footage using these adapters have dark edges. I'm not liking that for the kind of money these cost. Plus everything outside of a 5" DOF is out of focus and soft. |
