AND..The number of casualties caused by the US over the last 50 years, shows that it is responsible for the deaths of more foreign civilians than the reverse. What makes this worse is that its always under the pretence of good and freedom, when really its either ideologically or resource driven.

I think Saddam was a vile man and Im glad hes gone, but he wasnt the reason behind the Iraqi war. Im quite sure that if Iraq didnt have oil, Saddam would still be there, much like other despots in Zimbabwe, Uzbekistan and Burma. Saddam was an excuse, but ultimately, the US only really cares about the US.

Robert Fisk, in one of his columns, praised David Petraeus and said he should go into politics, he would make an excellent president.I think Fisk is slightly more conservative than many people realize, than even he realizes.Politicians with military experience are going to be needed in the future because conflict in the Middle-East and around the world is going to get worse.

Saddam Hussein was responsible for the Anfal campaign in the 1980s which killed about 100,000 Kurds. He started the Iran-Iraq war which killed about 1.4 million. After the 1991 Gulf War he brutally suppressed rebellions, killing about 100,000 in the Kurdish North and about 130,000 in the Shia South. Dont you think there is possibility that George Bush did the right thing by removing him from power?

I don't think he endorses McCain. You should hear him on other shows talking about McCain. I don't think he holds a candle for either candidate, simply because as he says, US foreign policy seems to be set in stone, pro Israel, irrespective of what it does and anti-Arab.

There are many Iraqis who look back on the days under Saddam as good days - when their kids to go to school without danger, when they had electricity and running water, when Shia and Sunni lived side by side in neighborhoods. Days when women were free to work and to wear the clothes they liked. If it weren't for Bush, sure Saddam may be alive, he may be committing atrocities (though on a smaller scale than the Americans), but maybe 4300 US soldiers and 1 million Iraqis would still be alive.

Robert Fisk is a living legend and he reaffirms my belief about Obama. He is the best of a bad bunch. I really hoped he would make a difference in the middle east but its not looking like it. Israeli interests right or wrong but mostly wrong will always hold sway over fairness and decency.

Continuation~ Not only does he scoff at the fact that McCain seems to believe that "being in a war is a good qualification to be a President", but, as you very well heard/saw, he agrees that a McCain administration would be a continuation of the Bush administration. Also, as clearly stated in his talk, "War, Geopolitics, and History" he believes that "now and today is the timezone" for the U.S. to get out of Iraq, which goes completely against McCain's doctrine.

Charles, I think this is the second time I've seen this comment of yours, and I have to say I totally disagree with it. Sure, he isn't exactly endorsing Obama, he seems to take the Chomsky position, i.e., they're both the same. But, he is for sure "not" endorsing McCain. Continued~
