Actually Brel would have hated this. He didn't like people to copy his stuff and certainly he hated people who translated his songs in other languages.

there are lots of vids with english subs n stuff, i just think it's sad, cuz i bet not much people know that's originally from a belgian artist.but still i think he did a good job, i realy love bowie

Is there any other way to get the english acquainted with Brel's oeuvre? Brel would be greatful to Bowie for having done this, regardless of how he did it.

Je ne suis pas d'accord avec beaucoup d'entre vous. Je ne peux revoir la version de Brel sans avoir tous les pores de la peau qui se hérissent tellement c'est fort et puissant et la langue si belle mais honnetement cette reprise de Bowie est JUSTE SUBLIME. Pour une fois un grand artiste rend pleinement hommage à Brel en apportant quelque chose de différent (et pas seulement la langue).Et je trouve qu'il y met ici une très forte émotion.
