No disrespect to wilson or Ramones...but having a snippet of influence on the two iconic hands of each genre the Beatles and the Sex Pistols..aint worth a great deal.Chris Martin of Coldplay (who i put p4p as the best writer in music today) said Morten harket of a-ha was an influence...exactly, in reality has zero bearing on what hes produced.

They didn't steal from the isley bros, they covered one of their songs (twist and shout), a bit different from stealing.And Beatles for sale was their first album after meeting dylan. And help was most definitely definitely an instant hit. Straight to number 1 on release. Couldn't be more instant

the cover of spin magazine has kings of leon as 'uk rock royalty.' and beck and weezer had albums out recently, tho i dunno if they did anything...anyway, i can't argue the state of american music is pretty shabby. but going back to the start of all this... simon cowell is partially to blame. the whole pop idol format has given rise to a whole new generation of singing heads. elvises, actually.

i was in now way touting elvis. that other dude brought him up as an example of uk superiority and i was merely correcting him. listen i love the beatles. so much so that i know she loves you was inspired by a bobby rydell song. i also know they stole from the isley bros (a full song in one case). as for help! actually, it wasn't an instant hit necessarily.. it was their first album after meeting dylan. the folkier sound and the movie had people wondering why the beatles were suddenly stoned

Spinner...Elvis was a singer and nothing more. Not a songwriter. Granted the Beach Boys influence did give rise to Sgt Peppers but most of their early stuff before Wilson went mental was shit. The Beatles early stuff however...Songs like Help!, She Loves You etc etc were instantly hits around the world.American music currently has nothing to offer us, the usual boy/girl band tripe is getting boring. Name 1 renowned US songwriter presently in the single or album charts? NO RAP or MADONNA

haha. who's jealous? paul himself openly gives brian wilson credit for sgt peppers.. same with the clash to the ramones.. but i'm sure they will be glad to hear that you're out crusading for their artistic integrity. my company actually works with alot of uk artists... the kooks editors jamie t kate nash, etc.. plusonemusic. check us out! and maybe take a chill pill.
