This old film is pretty close to how Pelee wiped out Saint-Pierre. Remember that until Alfred LaCroix studied this mountain after the infamous 1902 (8 May) eruption that wiped out Saint-Pierre, there was little information on a deadly form of eruption, the emission of pyroclastic flows and surges.

This is a fascinating document! The volcanic eruption that destroyed the city of Saint-Pierre on the island of Martinique and that killed all the 30.000 inhabitants is one of the great desasters of the 20 th century - but very little known. It is interesting to see, how they tried to render the desaster in this movie... Thank you for restauring and posting this movie!
