Ah, shit: More idiots... Look, they are the same band, just older and more mature. Which can be interpreted through this song, this song's meaning is "be an individual". People too easily are persuaded to jump on the band wagon. American Idiot was an experimental album, as was Nimrod. They were trying out different types of songs. Listen to both albums all the way through, and you'll see my point, as will many others who read this.
