Sarbel - Yassou Maria [ Greece - Eurovision 2007 Finals ]

Greece was represented in the Eurovision Song Contest 2007 by the music artist Sarbel and the song 'Yassou Maria' . This gave Greece and Sarbel the 7th position, out of 24 participating countries.Not that bad as a position itself (especially when you ensure a position in the top 10), but he surely deserved a somewhat better outcome. Not only the statistics were showing a top-5 placement, but also the visitors of the official Eurovision homepage had voted him up to one of the top placements. This surely indicates that it doesn't only matter that the song is good, but also that the participating countries have strong voting support from other 'factors' (for instance, from neighboring countries). Now, apart from the above mentioned facts, there was surely poor coverage on Sarbel's performance - The camera angles and views were pretty bad (ex. the was meant for a 'heart' to be shaped at the end which wasn't visible at all), the sound quality VERY bad, with the Sarbel sounding like sing at a far distance (and to be fair, not only for Greece, but for other as well) and there was a very bad exposition of Sarbel himself on the TV screen. As a matter of fact, this also continued after his performance, at the voting process - The cameras were hardly showing him at the edge of the TV screen, while the camera crew was mainly focusing on his dancers (!!!). If you hadn't watched the Greek entry, you would think the girls were the ones representing Greece (In other words, a girl-band called Sarbel!). There is hardly any exaggeration in all this, as everybody can verify the above mentioned by watching his performance on the night when the Greeks were to vote for the one that would represent them (the video can be seen here http://www.youtube.com/watch?v... )Thank you Sarbel, very good try, and we wish you the best on your future career!...
