This was the first version of Cuckoo's Nest I learn't, note by note, from this recording, and a lovely version it is. When I played it in the pub everyone said "that's a really strange version"and I realised this is a set of variations around a morris dance tune, in turn derived from a rather bawdy old song.

That's gorgeous. I don't know why english folk never got the same international exposure that Irish folk did. (sorry cup0tea. Meant to rply but clicked mark as spam) just to say tht it is a welsh tune.
