Rethymnon Welcomes the Pancretans in 1961 (Part 1/2)
I am guessing when I say that this scene is in Rethymnon. So please, help me confirm the location of this video by leaving your comments. If you recognize landmarks and people, please let me know. This is a huge welcome party for the Pancretan Association excursion to Crete. The whole town, as it appears, comes out to greet their visitors.I just love to watch the young boys wearing their German military caps. They wore them with pride. This scene takes place only 13 years after World War II, so those ugly memories of war still very much a part of their healing process. Still, these people are thrilled and proud to welcome their American friends....not so proud today, perhaps, but that's another story.Make sure to watch part 2 of this video.Shot and edited by Anthony Sooklaris in 1961, Antonis Tsouchlarakis
