They failed because they were not good enough. Because Otto Rehhagel chose to play the long ball game targeting Charisteas. Also, Greece were no longer the "surprise package" like Denmark in 1992. Denmark in 1996, just like Greece in 2008 failed to qualify from their group. Also Greece's players couldnt match the "quality" of other countries' players. And btw, Greece did score 1 goal in this tournament....vs Spain

nikopoloidis sucked in 2004. our defenders kept saving his ass over and over again. The reason why we won was because of zagorakis and the defence. NOT NIKOGAMIDIS

Greeks can hang their head in shame over this absolute dismal poor performance of once a great soccer team. How can you possibly defend a team that failed to qualify the WC in 06 and go to the Euro 08 and fail to score 1 goal. Greece beat Moldova and think that they have won the right to win the Euro again. I have yet not read or seen a good excuse of why this team absolutely faile at this tournament, Nikolopidis should be sent to Turkey for the rest of his life as punishment.
