Paul wrote that under inspiration from Christ. Bottomline, there is NOTHING wrong with having money. God forbid. Nothing wrong with living in a blessed nation like america. We have what we have in this nation because of God's favor. Tell me this, why did God bless with wealth some of the greatest men in the Bible??? What you do with wealth is what matters. Feed the poor, clothe the naked. I am not saying to buy a BMW, but if you have it, so what??

well I simply disagree. God gave to Moses the law of blessings and cursings. Chrsit said very clearly that if the wicked give to their children whatsoever they desired, how much moreso will he give unto us if we simply ask him? I do not know any parent who would give their children a stone or a snake instead of bread or a blessing. You have a displaced idea of God and his love for us. I like Piper, but Piper also believes in some crazy doctrine issues as well. I'm pentecostal.

Chadsummers01, The quote you ascribed to Christ were not from him at all and are take n out of context. The Apostle John wrote them in 3John 1:2 as a greeting to the audience of his letter, Gaius. He was wishing him prosperity and health in relation to his ministry. If you want to truly understand Christ's view on prosperity you'll find it interwoven by His own words in Matthew 5 and Luke 6. Worldly prosperity & health was not a promise made to every believer, far from it.

I get what he is saying, but the fact is, God will take care of his own. God told moses the laws of blessings and cursings. Christ said that above all things, he wished us that we prosper and be in good health as our soul prospereth. I don't look to money to meet my needs, I look to God to meet my needs. But also, to suggest as many do that it is a glorious thing to be broke and poor, well, that's idolatry as well because it makes you become a self glorified martyr.

RIGHT ON BROTHER!!!!!!!!!
Zambia4Christ (November 30, 1999 at 12:00 am)
Preach it brother!!! If it's all about prosperity, then what about FOX's book? What about laying up our treasures in heaven, not on earth where rust, moth, and thieves steal? Apparently these people need to read their bible. Where your treasure is, there will your heart be also. If you only love Jesus for the material things he gives you, you don't really love him at all. Stevebuck77 I will be praying for you. You have been mislead if those are your true beliefs. God Bless you John Piper.
