It's such a hard one. I think it was a bit of a fluke that Brad Jones managed to avoid Paul. If you look at the speed that Brad approached the crash compered to Pither, you'll probably find that Brad was on a cool down lap and that's why he missed him. Yes Pither did see the flag but like he said I doubt he would have had much time to stop the car on a flying lap. I think if Avesco was serious about saving lives then they should bring in that Orange light like Nascaer and Formula 1 have.

yeh i agree with you .. pither was flat out in 4th gear [whats that around 180kph roughly ?] its not easy to pull up within 100 meters in a 1.3 tonne beast. Pither was lucky that he hit more towards the rear of the car. best of luck to both drivers

apparently there were yellow flags being displayed, maybe the broadcast just didnt show them? heartbreaking for the teams who worked so hard to get the cars ready for this event, but very lucky both drivers walked away from it!

I think everyone here should just calm down a little until we know exactly what happened regarding the flags etc.The main thing here is that nobody died - which could have happened easily in that crash.

Poor driving from a more than poor driver. Pither knew he was in the wrong and should take it on the chin and admit he is shit. Im sure he could have done more to avoid the accident.

No one goes to Bathhurst to destroy their racecar on purpose...its motorsport, accidents are bound to happen, at such high speed you only have a second to react, give the guy a break, and thankfully Paul Weel is ok. Maybe the each car does need a yellow light to help in these situations like formula 1 ....blame the V8 supercar administration not the drivers!

He doesn't mean literally asleep. He means that he was in auto pilot no longer paying attention, much like driving to work everyday, not really thinking about where you're going or have your mind on the job. If he had been more aware he'd have missed just like the two cars before him that apparently didn't have a yellow flag yet. Poor driving and get a haircut.

Pither's driving was unacceptable. Two other cars managed to avoid Weel - why couldn't Pither? You can tell in his interview, he knows he's in deep s***.Thank God he hit towards the rear of the car - makes me shudder to think if he had in front of the B pillar |
