as a band, steely dan was almost in a class by themselves - such musicianship and high standards. pure pop perfection. and the guitar solo on Rikki Don't Lose That Number is one of the all time greats.

What do you mean dead? It's more alive the techno, electronic s**t that 'artist' pump out today. This is real music and artistry, IMHO.
