I hope this doesn't sound perverse, but I went to a suburban private school, and I think I might have gotten a better education, and been better prepared for college if I had gone to an intensive charter school like one of these.

I'm with BBPA4Kids. Hearing from these parents and students, it's hard to think that entrenched interest groups like teachers' unions really have the kids in mind when they oppose public funding for charter schools. If there are twice as many families who want to get out of public schools and into charter schools as are able to, obviously something's going right with these charter schools and wrong with the priorities of local and state government.

What a powerful video. It is bittersweet to hear the success stories of these parents and their children and know that hundreds, if not thousands, of inner-city Boston parents and students are being denied access to quality education -- charter schools and other quality options -- by proponents of a harmful status quo! |
