appreciate info/thanks - Looking around I had found what seemed a frustration/a speculation on part of reg.infantry re: the future of being a rifleman in reg. infantry unit -wether it was as security guards ,etc. Found info/towards this trend in online army mags/articles and Aust news articles I dont have the clear picture - I was sympathetic to what was being expressed by Reg. Infantry forces...

Aussie Reg forces have and are conducting offensive operations to coinside with security on Reconstruction tasks. Example:The security task group on 'Reconstruction Task Force 2' in 07 was responsible for more than 120 taliban deaths through aggressive patrolling throught 6months (Reg Infantry accumulating many kills).Unfortunately the decision to conduct Offensive Ops outside of reconstruction lies purely with the government and commanders.and like any good soldier you do what task your given.
