@nightsoldier: there are other genres as well, but thats not what ratter52 is saying, heavy metal does not exist before sabbath....they pretty much laid the foundation

sabbath said there first band earth was one of the last hippy bands.Then after that they got there much heavier sound when they changed there name to black sabbath.

i love sabbath,but I also deep purple, zep,rush,floyd,the list goes on,and to be honest it depends on the mood you are in, sometimes i'd listen to beethoven, sometimes sabbath,they're all great.Just enjoy it.
