Mr. Big performing "Colorado Bulldog" at The Roxy Live sometime in '99. Featuring Eric Martin on vocals, Billy Sheehan on bass, Richie Kotzen on guitars and Pat Torpey on drums. To the guitar nerds, notice how Richie plays the song so differently compared to Paul Gilbert's version.

What are you saing bro ? Gilbert is of of the most complete guitarist in history, he can do it all, jazz, blues, bluegrass, classic rock, hard rock, 80 metal, shred and many more things, RK is a great guitarist, but PG is in a whole new level

they both have a different technique...

Ammazzate sti Mr.Big.....troppo bravi!

I think the big mistake in the valutation of RK and PG is that they're both considered as shredders!PG is a shredder, and nothing else.RK is a songwriter, a great singer and also a great and versatile guitarist!

I wholeheartedly agree. I love them both equally. Paul is the better technical player, but, to me, Richie has more soul. This isn't a slight on either of them, far from it. As I say, I like them both for different reasons. I don't get why people still knock Richie after all these years. Now....if only we could get them on stage together....boy would that screw up the Richie haters, but it would be very cool!

I like both Paul and Richie very much. But you can“t compare them. To my mind Paul is the better guitar player and richie is the better musician.

i really dont get it why people hate replacements.. i like both guitarists.. but dont you think that this was a nice move to put kotzen in mr. big. rather than having to stop playing coz they dont have Paul Gilbert anymore.

I think Richie is doing a great job. I am a huge PG fan nad will admit that I lost interest in Mr Big when Paul left but yeah Richie is doing a great job and to be honest what PG has over Kotzen in technique, Richie makes up for in guitar tone. He's got a much fatter richer sound than Paul who sometimes has a bit too much presence on his sound for some applications. Not to mention Richie is a better backup singer than Paul

See the thing is that if Kotzen played things exactley the same as PG everyone would be winging that he was copying Pauls work. He must feel like Steve Morse does with Deep Purple, a little out of place. Plus its good to hear a fresh approach to the songs. Give the guy a break cause in the end you cant keep everyone happy.

i prefer paul on his solo stuff, but i think that richie fits mr big better : )
