You cant really compare any two bands imo, even in a single genre there's no such thing as one band being better than another, music is not a beauty contest. Some of the most simplified songs are sometimes the most inspiring while, sadly, many cant appreciate someone like Hammet's solos

Haha, i loved Blood Mountain and Leviathan! But sweet name! HUNT FOR! OGRES AND DWARVES! LION SLICOOOORRR!!! And I still love Remission and Call of the Mastodon, but Crack the skye will be fucking sweet too!

mastodon are to cool for fuckin school now all hipster and shit. I miss the raw brutality of remission and the classics from call of the mastodon, they took a turn for the worse after leviathan. oh well they went to shit but Neurosis will always be gold.

Mastodon plays really good old school type metal, but neurosis can't even be placed into a genre, it's like the music you hear during a dream in which you finally realize your position in life and wake up a raging nihilist.
