I think that the recognition will still be attained to a large extent, since all downloadable material is carefully monitored and used, when music companies are considering paying out for the groups name.

maybe if people keep on buying some records it wolud be better for music, instead of downloading all kinds of stuff for free. especially for indie groups like fleet foxes, who could reach a wider recognition (and some money) if their records are sold.
