I've been working on the Spring with a violinist friend of mine recently and it's my favorite of Beethoven's violin sonatas. I must say I'm a little surprised at this interpretations stretching of the tempo in areas though I do love Mutter. Will be hearing her in Ann Arbor in 2 weeks and can't wait.

Not my cup of tea - she has a fussy way of playing that is often seen in a lot of the female Asian violinists...

Do you have a score for this?

I agree with you..except with artists of this magnatude perhaps we can call it an "inventive spirit". Milstein, Joachim, Kreisler, Francescatti, were not afraid to try new things, nor were many others..which is why we have special editions of their transcripts of pieces in the music store

I agree with the others-Beethovan had three periods different types of composition. The last period of his life was dubbed "Romantic" and even though he was deaf this music showed extreme depth. Vibrato is extremely personal with each violinist. Since Beethovan also studied violin I think he would appreciate this as simply her personal style. I think he would love her trills as well.

Very Nice! Eventhough there are some sudden ritardandos and stops like when she is taking the first repeat. It was hard for me to follow her playing.( I was actually practicing the same song :D) Overall, it wwas really good and I really enjoyed it. Her feelings in her playing really made me imagine of the new plants growing and the wide green grassfield. VERY NICE!
