when john died in 1980, it seemed as though 1969 was totally another age. obvsly now i appreciate that 11 years is not much at all. i realise that in 1980 music was still kind of just in following in their recent wake. 39 years from 1969, that whole age does seem very disconnected from now. its also odd that at my age 16, john was 10 yrs my senior when he wrote strawberry fields. now he is much younger than me but is still see him with a child's eyes, the beatles are always men and i a boy. odd. |
