This was never about "soldiers should be tough enough to take it" it was about the respect we owe these soldiers.

I'm surprised you didn't get the typical "You weren't a soldier!" line from ed for saying bad barracks are livable.

Do you know whats unbecoming? An American platoon of 39 men spending 15 months in the mountains of Afghanistan, where 20 out of 39 of them hit IED's (road side bombs) and then coming home and forced to live in barracks like this. This was not done because it was just my son, it was done because I looked at all these kids as my son.People like you and the two posts below disgust me.

Why is it the majority of the military posts are "oh yea, I've lived like that, deal with it" and you Ed, keep telling them that they haven't? The broken record thing is unbecoming.

I lived in those same barracks when it was the 504PIR. Man thank God your son came home. Stop crying about something so small. Leave your home for 15 months and see what you return to.

I have spent may a year in the army, 13 to be exact and have lived at Bragg. * weeks without a shower isn't much, Stop whining cause your son is in the Army and doing his job. You make me sick, we do what we do so you can bitch. Yes, the conditions arent the best but we dont expect the best, just respect.

Thank you for creating and posting this. The code violations and filth appear to be all over the common areas! Talk about "deferred maintenance"! Let's hope for much improvement there.

We soldiers have taken a oath and with that commitment noting is certain except uncertainty. I was in Fort Hood and although my barracks were not this bad they were not exactly new. We lived 2 to a room it was cramped. The Army is building new barracks. I am out now and soon after I enlisted in the Marines. I am much happier here then I was in the Army.

I'm Air Force and was assigned to one of those "In lieu of taskings" with the Army for a year and had training at Fort Bragg before we left for Afghanistan and stayed in Old Division Barracks. The fact was, I had 16 years in the Air Force before this, so I was used to their ways and that in spite of their self-righteous "core values" and robotic leadership among the higher ranks, we've always been well cared for no matter where we were. And Fayetteville is a sleaze pit. Army is dirty all the way

Thank you for getting this information out. My son is also stationed in Ft. Bragg and had lived in these barracks.
